Little Butterfly is not quite an easy patience. There are different foundation cards in each game and the patience therefore requires increased attention.

# Layout

Twenty cards are laid out overlapping as two butterfly wings as shown in the graphic. Start in the center. Then two cards are placed diagonally in the lower corners before six cards go into a helper row. Then the 29th card from the stock is placed as a foundation card next to the tableau.

# Objective

The four foundation cards that appear or are cleared during gameplay are built up in the same suit. The foundation cards in this graphic are the eights, because the 8 was drawn as the 29th card from the stock during layout. This is followed by the 9, at the end the 7 must lie on top.

# Gameplay

With this patience, there is a special rule to observe. Cards from the two wings may only be played up onto the foundation or subsequent cards or into their respective diagonal corner if the space is free. So the 10 from the right wing may, for example, only go on a subsequent card or in the right corner, provided the 6 is gone from there. It may never be placed in the left corner. Likewise, no card from the left wing may be placed in the right corner.

The cards from the corners may be played up onto the foundation and subsequent cards and placed on a card in the helper row. Cards may be placed on the helper rows in descending order with alternating colors or in the same suit. Sequences consisting of the same suit may be moved. Empty rows in the helper row can be filled with any cards from the corners, the stock or the helper row.

If nothing can be moved, played up or placed anymore, you can place cards one by one from the stock onto a pile, which must then be resolved from the top. The stock may only be gone through once. If four suit families are completely built up on the foundation cards at the end, the patience has succeeded.
