Demon doesn't succeed often and is somewhat more difficult than most simple patience games. Nevertheless, it is very fun.

# Layout

Thirteen cards are placed face-up on a helper pile. Then the 14th card from the stock is placed as a foundation card. Space is left next to it for the three additional foundation cards that will appear during the game. Below the foundation card, a horizontal helper row with four cards is laid out.

# Objective

The goal of Demon is to build up in the same suit in ascending order on the foundation cards. This changes with each game; the 14th card from the stock is always decisive.

# Gameplay

If another foundation card or matching subsequent card is found in the helper row or on the helper pile, it is immediately played up. Then check whether cards in the helper row can be moved in descending order with alternating colors. Sequences may also be moved. You may always place cards from the stock onto a new pile and use them as appropriate, as you may go through the stock unlimited times. The top card of the helper pile may also be used and either played up or placed. If a helper row is cleared, it may only be filled with a card from the helper pile. After that, cards can be moved again.

# Note

Sometimes it is better not to play cards up immediately. In a helper row, it might still have great use.
