Red and Black
# Layout
In the patience Red and Black, four card piles with ten face-up cards each are formed and laid out in a horizontal row. Above is space for two helper piles and above that again for the eight Aces that must be cleared during the game. For better overview, the black Aces should lie on the left and the red Aces on the right.
# Objective
The goal of this patience is to build up with ascending order A sequence of cards where each card is one rank higher than the previous, starting with the Ace and ending with the King. For example: Ace, 2, 3, 4, …, Queen, King.
# Gameplay
You can now play with the four visible cards. Aces and subsequent cards can be played up directly in ascending order with alternating colors. If a red and a black King are present, they form the basis for the helper piles. The two piles may never have the same color, and when they are empty again, a King may always be placed there. The Kings can be built down in descending order with alternating colors.
When all possibilities are exhausted, cards are placed one by one from the stock onto a new pile and checked whether they fit either with the foundation cards or with one of the two helper piles. When the stock is used up, the resulting pile may be turned over and gone through again unshuffled as often as desired. Despite this rule, the patience is not always successful.
